Family Studio Time: Handbuilding
Work by Community Day participant
Spend quality time together in this Family Studio Time workshop designed for adults and children to create side by side. Participants will explore playful clay-building techniques such as pinching and basic forming to create clay objects and simple sculptural pieces, along with an introduction to colorful surface decoration.
Designed as a relaxed, playful, and family-friendly experience, this one-off workshop encourages creativity through hands-on clay building and shared making. Families will have the opportunity to slow down, explore clay together, and enjoy the process of creating handmade ceramic pieces in a welcoming studio environment. This program is reserved for families, and both adult and child participants must register separately and attend together.
The class will begin with a 20-minute instructor demonstration covering pinch pot techniques and basic forming methods. From there, participants will have time to experiment, build, and personalize their pieces with guidance throughout. This workshop is ideal for beginners and welcomes participants of all skill levels. Those new to clay will receive clear, step-by-step instruction, while more experienced makers are encouraged to refine their skills and experiment with form.
Up to two finished pieces are included and will be glazed and fired by the studio; additional pieces may be kept for an extra fee. Finished work will be ready for pickup in 3–4 weeks.
