About the Studio

Slo Slo Studio is a community ceramics studio in New York City’s Chinatown, founded by Jon Wang and Tra Nguyen. We started the studio to create a space where people can take a breather, work with their hands, and connect with one another.

Jon is a Taiwanese American potter. Growing up in New York, his family ran Chinese restaurants, where making food and feeding people were part of everyday life.

Tra is a Vietnamese American from North Carolina who has spent the past decade working in the nonprofit sector, developing community-centered programs and spaces.

We care deeply about creating an environment that feels welcoming, open, and joyful. One that honors lived experience, shared histories, and the many ways people come together.

Our programming is shaped by curiosity and community. We hope Slo Slo is a place where people can try something new, learn from one another, get their hands a little messy, and leave feeling a little more inspired and connected.
